Prof Peter Drysdale AO


Peter Drysdale is Emeritus Professor of Economics and the Head of the East Asian Bureau of Economic Research and East Asia Forum at the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University. He is widely recognised as the leading intellectual architect of APEC. He is the author of a number of books and papers on international trade and economic policy in East Asia and the Pacific, including his prize-winning book, International Economic Pluralism: Economic Policy in East Asia and the Pacific. He is recipient of the Asia Pacific Prize, the Weary Dunlop Award, the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun with Gold Rays and Neck Ribbon, the Australian Centenary Medal and he is a member of the Order of Australia.


Mr Zhang Xiaoqiang


Mr Zhang Xiaoqiang is currently the Executive Vice Chairman of China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE). He was the Former Vice Chairman of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and was previously the Secretary General of NDRC. In October 2002, Mr Zhang was appointed Secretary General of the State Development Planning Commission. Prior to that, he was Deputy Secretary General from October 2001 to October 2002. Mr Zhang became Director General of the Department of Foreign Capital Utilization of the State Planning Commission in July 1995. From January 1994 to July 1995 he was assigned to work as Economic Counsellor in the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC. Prior to this assignment, he held positions as Deputy Director General of the Department of Foreign Capital Utilization of the State Planning Commission and Deputy Director General of Guangzhou Municipal Planning Commission. Mr Zhang was born in December 1952. He graduated from the Department of Economics, Peking University in 1982.
